Week 14 Reflections part 1

Prompt 1:

Reflect on the Method of Loci in your blog. What worked? What didn't? How could you use such a cognitive activity, mental or visible to users, to improve the acquisition of knowledge in your designs? What was different last time vs. this time? Did what you built before stimulate this kind of visualization in learners or did the media do it for them? Which do you think is better?

I have enjoyed attempting the Method of Loci, and have really started to see some results from it.  It's enjoyable to me to try and find something that relates to what I am trying to remember as a visual for a particular part of the room.  What can I think of that reminds me of a learning community that has its own values?  How about a desk (learning community) with a scale on it (value)?  Now it also has a check for $1,000 on it (desired outcomes) and a picture of two people shaking hands (acceptable conventions and practices).  I have now created a visual representation of section one in my room "week 14 reflections" (which for some reason is purple, by the way).

This visualization creates new pathways in my brain, and ties old info to new info AND to new pictures or items.  I think this will work very well for some people who are visual learners, or artistic people.  I fear of creating too simple a thing in my mind that won't be special to the thing I want to remember.  I remembered that from last time, so I really tried hard to come up with unique things.  The picture is of Biden and Governor Abbot shaking hands, the desk has a yellow chair attached to it, just things like that to make it more special.  I think it has to be a combo of the personal visualization and the kind of things the media does for them.  If I need to remember a movie star, it would be helpful to picture a TV with a movie playing where they are the star.  But it still has to be unique to the situation you are trying to remember.

Prompt 2:
Reflect on the implementation and evaluation for Project B that you have put together: What changes will you make before implementation? Why? What did you ignore in the client's feedback? Why? What did you ignore in your peer's feedback? Why?

I added an entire section for students who don't have internet access and has to just use paper packets after the meeting with the client for the implementation meeting.  This whole section I had to take the information from the regular section and find a way to teach it without using the internet.  It was difficult to find exercises that will simulate the personal searching of information and had to just provide them with it.

With the amount of things that needed to be covered, and the time before the implementation, I didn't fix the last two weeks had too much work in it concern from the client.  There was not enough time, nor could we find a better place to fit this information.

There was nothing in the peer review that I ignored.
